EA Holding Massive iPad Sale Until Monday

Apple’s iPad 2 has just recently hit the scene and looks to further cement the company’s dominance in the tablet market. While enterprising users are sure to find a lot of value in the iPad 2 everyone knows that it’s the games that will really make sales. Luckily there is no drought of game developers pushing out high quality titles for the highly sought after tablet. One major developer, which I’m sure you’ve heard of, has just announce3d that they will be holding a massive iPad 2 sale. That developer, of course, is none other than EA.

Jailhouse Jack – iPhone & iPad

Donut Games is at it again with another successful and addicting iOS app. In the sense of the theme of the game, it is quite different from their other titles – but it stops there as they are typically consistent in keeping their titles easy to play yet hard to master. Additionally I admire that all their titles have the same look and feel and have a particular formula to the way they’re played. So how is it different?

In Jailhouse Jack you are on a movie set complete with a Director and crew, you are Jack escaping from jail and the goal is to gather all the keys on any level in order to progress. You’re given a set number of switches that allow you to jump, travel up or down ladders and set bombs in order to win. The most prominent feature of the game though is the timeline scrubber that allows you to rewind or fast forward your movements if you make a mistake. This ties into the movie/film reel theme quite nicely. You’ll encounter other characters in the game that will assist you – like the bomb expert or characters that are trying to kill you like policemen or the attack dogs from Donut Games’ previous hit title Sunday Lawn.

There’s enough variety and challenge in this game, much similar to their other titles, to keep you going for quite some time – and it’s a universal app so you can play it on both the iPad and iPhone with level saving on both devices.

Quick Quest – iPad & iPhone Preview

Get your finger exercises in because Defiant Development, creators of Rocket Bunnies, has a new youtube video of their upcoming and stunning RPG title on the iPad and iPhone. The all touch-controlled dungeon game, which reminds me of Baulder’s Gate, uses no virtual sticks which I quite like as they just don’t work.  Check the video below:

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception has soldiered on post-release with a couple of patches and adjustments which have helped refine what was already a heavily polished experience. Now v1.03 is out, and while it doesn’t change a whole lot, it does pave the way for plenty to follow. id="more-160118">

Below are the patch notes for Uncharted 3‘s v1.03 patch, as detailed on Naughty Dog’s official site:

  • Users in the largest party in a game room will no longer be designated as Villains a large majority of the time
  • Cutscene viewer audio issues fixed (3D only)

In addition to the above changes, the patch contains the framework necessary to run some DLC which Naughty Dog is excited to be releasing soon. Eric Monacelli mentioned that all information regarding the DLC will be revealed by January 17th, which falls on the same day as next week’s PlayStation Store update. The content has been said to apply only to the multi-player experience, so if you enjoy the competitive environment in Uncharted 3, be sure to stay tuned.
